Simon + Hayley
Hi, we are a husband and wife team and the people behind the cameras at Picture Box Portraits.
We have been working together for over twenty years and we operate from a studio based in the heart of Bures, near Colchester, Essex.
We now have three adorable children! (Our eldest took the picture of us above!)
Being parents ourselves has really helped us to understand and be patient with little ones, so we can get the best out of them, showing their true personality in the photographs we take.
And we LOVE photography!
My passion for photography started at a very young age, when I was given a 35mm camera for Christmas. I found it completely fascinating looking at the world through the lens and was hooked instantly.
My camera soon became part of me and I wouldn't go anywhere without it.
I photographed my first wedding at the age of 19 and discovered my true passion of photographing people.
Wedding photography became a big part of my life and in 1999, I became a full time professional photographer. At the same time I met my wife Hayley and we continue to run the business today.
Over the years I have photographed hundreds of weddings and I have worked with many families in our studio and out on location. I am a qualified Licentiate member of the Master Photography Association (LMPA) and the Guild of Wedding Photographers and I am very proud of what I have achieved over the years.
Today we continue to run our business from a studio location in Bures and we are very excited to be working to push
Picture Box Portraits in the right direction.
I have always had a love for art and design for as long as I can remember and I discovered my passion for photography at a young age when I inherited my grandfathers Rolleiflex camera. I absolutely loved this camera and I still have it today.
I love to be creative and work with the light to capture the mood in an image. I would sometimes spend ages looking at a subject to get the right angle so it was just perfect.
Art became a huge part of my life and after getting the grades I needed at school I went to college in Colchester to study an advanced GNVQ in Art and Design, specialising in photography in my second year. This took me on to further my education in Leicester, graduating with a HND in photography.
I then moved back to Colchester and met Simon. I joined his business in 1999 as a creative reportage wedding and portrait photographer. We have now photographed many weddings and portraits together and make a great husband and wife team.
